List of Games Played

For over a decade, I've been keeping a list of all the games I play. That list dates back to October 30th, 2006, when I started documenting everything. I use tags to keep track of the games I review on the blog, but I figured I would share this since it includes about five years of games before I started this blog, and I think it looks cool to see everything written out in order of when I played them (most recent games are listed at the top, so it's actually reverse chronological order). I've obviously played more games than just this in my lifetime, and I even left off some games that I've played since the start of this list, if they were really small and insignificant indie games, or games that I only played for an hour and never went back to. I can't tell if this list feels long or short, considering the amount of time it's covering. Anyway, below is virtually every game that I've played, in order, since October 30th, 2006, with relevant links to any games I've covered here on the blog:

  1. Lol you actually had the patience to sit through 4(!) .hack games! I am a big JRPG fan but the time required to complete a single JRPG is well beyond what I have.

You should really try Torchlight 2 and Shovel Knight, both marque games in their respective genre.

Dark Messiah was the last game that I played and was pretty impressed by it. I wonder why it didn't become a breakout hit like Dishonored.

Just waiting for Pillars of Eternity 2 to hit. That will probably carry me till Metro Exodus and the next Bethesda announcement. So many games, so little time!

  2. Nice list but pretty small compared to mine... Will give a few recommendations.

First of all i noticed that you don't play any strategy games at all, which is sad. I could propose a few but you don't seem to like anything other than story-driven/RPG games and shooters.

    1) You should definitely play Baldur's Gate I & II. Preferably enhanced editions , plus Siege of Dragonspear, a recent BG1 expansion. They regularly go on sale for penies and it would be a waste not to play them. They are dnd 2nd edition, which may require some studying of the mechanics/manual, but they are great games. They don't make them like this anymore.

    2) Again, Icewind Dale games. Both of them. The first got a pretty cool Enhanced edition i recommend, the second sadly will never get one because the source code was lost. Still playable through GOG. Similar to Baldur's gate games, but more focus on combat and dungeon crawling and less on story. They still have good atmosphere though. I tend to prefer them to BG myself.

    3) Fallout 2 and Tactics. Those games were all great. They are still playable today despite being 20 year old already.

    4) Vampire the Masquerade Redemption. For some reason people seem to ignore this one and all the hype goes to the flawed Bloodlines. In my opinion Redemption was much better all-around as a game. It had its faults, and is still pretty buggy, but it is still worth a playthrough for any RPG gamer. I loved the vampire story and how it begins in middle ages and after the first half of the game it continues on modern age with modern firearms for weapons... Never seen anything other like it. Recommended. It goes for cheap too!

    5) Since i see you have a 3DS, try both Fire Emblem games. Great SRGPs.

    6) Both Neverwinter Nights games are stellar, and you can get the complete (or in the case of the original NW, the enchanced) editions for low cost. The first NW game is a great multiplayer-focused DND game with relatively poor single player content(and great user-made content that could last for centuries...), and NW2 is typical Obsidian stuff, especially Mask of the Betrayer expansion which is considered Planescape Torment quality. Since i love Dnd (you probably figured it out), i recommend them both.

    7) Deus Ex Mankind Divided, AKA Human revolution on steroids. A great and underrated game. Heavily recommended, especially if you have a high end PC. Some of my more memorable moments in gaming, and i have been gaming for almost 3 decades

    8) Rise of the Tomb Raider. I really liked it, and plan on replaying it. I noticed you didn't like the original -in rebooted series- Tomb Raider (2013), which is kind of sad because it was best in class, so i suppose you don't really like this type of game. Rise of the Tomb Raider is more of the same essentially. I loved it and recommend it but you make the choice yourself

    9) I refrained from proposing strategy games, but i will propose you to play XCOM(2012) with its expansion Enemy Within. It is not a very deep strategy game and it features nice graphics, which makes it a nice attempt at bringing XCOM to modern audiences. I enjoyed it a lot and do recommend it as a test to see if you like this type of game, if you can get it on a sale. I don't play it anymore, i prefer deeper Xcom types like Apocalypse (my favourite) or Xenonauts, but the 2K version is nice for newbies in the genre.

    10) Hand of Fate 1 & 2. You don't need to get both, you can get just the sequel, but i liked both of them. They are a unique type of game that blends tabletop/card games and CRPGs.

    11) Mount & Blade Warband. Now this game is rough. It was a 2 man project and it shows. But it has some of the best medieval period combat ever, especially mounted, and it is great for what it is. We have been waiting for the sequel but it has been delayed. Watch some videos on youtube and if it seems like a nice idea to try out, get it on a sale.

    1. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll keep an eye out for some of these games and will seriously consider some of them.

I do own one of the Fire Emblem games on the 3DS, as well as Mount & Blade Warband, but just haven't gotten around to playing them.

I have played Fallout 2, just not since 2006, so it's not on this list. I consider it to be one of my favorite RPGs of all time. I've also played several hours of Baldur's Gate 2, way back in the day (before 2006) but never got around to finishing it. I actually started playing it before getting distracted by the Fallout 4 free weekend event, and was surprised at how easily I could jump back into second edition D&D. It's still installed on my computer (the original disc version, with the expansion) and I still intend to play it.

Regarding Deus Ex: Mankind Divided -- I was basically avoiding this game because I just wasn't convinced Eidos could do a good enough job with it to justify spending the money (or time) on it. I didn't really like Human Revolution that much (it's ok, but pales in comparison to the original) and their work on the Thief reboot felt like a huge step back from what made the original Thief games so good, that I just didn't want to give them any more money to try more of their games. I liked Tomb Raider but it didn't blow me away, and it's not an immersive sim like Thief and Deus Ex so it doesn't necessarily compare.

  3. Games you should try:

    1. Nioh - Dark Souls style combat and gameplay mixed with Diablo style loot drops

    2. Metal Gear Solid V - stealth action game with a pretty unique military/fiction setting

    3. Metro games - Uncharted style action adventure games, Metro 3 (Exodus) has a Witcher 2 like structure

    4. Assassin Creed Odyssey - pretty much Roman Witcher 3

    1. If you think Odyssey is pretty much Roman Witcher 3 you are insane
